Our Commitment to VolunteersVolunteers

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds who are passionate about community development. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Those under 18 require written parental or guardian consent. There are no restrictions based on gender, religion, ethnicity, or physical ability.

We offer four types of volunteering: Field Volunteering (on-site at our Barishal programmes), Remote Volunteering (content creation, translation, research — work from anywhere), Event Volunteering (assisting at specific campaigns or drives), and Skilled Volunteering (professionals offering legal, medical, design, or IT support).

All volunteers are expected to treat community members, staff, and fellow volunteers with dignity and respect. Volunteers must not discriminate on any grounds, must not make promises to communities on behalf of TPDO without authorisation, and must not photograph or film community members without prior consent from TPDO staff.

Volunteers may have access to sensitive information about the communities we serve, our beneficiaries, or internal operations. All such information must be kept strictly confidential and must not be shared on personal social media or with third parties without written approval from TPDO.

TPDO takes the safety of all volunteers seriously. Field volunteers will receive a safety briefing before deployment. Volunteers should disclose any relevant medical conditions that may affect their participation. TPDO is not liable for personal injury or illness unless caused by direct negligence on our part.

All volunteers will receive: a welcome induction, a named supervisor or point of contact, a Certificate of Volunteering upon completion, a reference letter on request (for engagements of 3 months or more), and a letter of recommendation for exceptional contributions. We do not offer financial compensation for standard volunteering.

To volunteer, email info@tpdobd.org with your full name, location, areas of interest, skills, and availability. We will respond within 5 working days. Successful applicants will receive an onboarding pack and be assigned to a relevant programme or team.

Volunteers may end their engagement at any time by notifying TPDO. TPDO reserves the right to end a volunteer engagement if a volunteer breaches this policy, behaves in a way that harms the organisation or the communities it serves, or is unable to fulfil agreed commitments.
